The 7M TikTok “cult” refers to allegations surrounding 7M Films, a Los Angeles-based talent management agency, and its founder, Robert Shinn, who is also a pastor of the Shekinah Church. The controversy started when dancers, primarily popular on TikTok, signed with 7M Films and reportedly became entangled in a restrictive and controlling environment. Allegations surfaced that the agency, which claimed to represent social media influencers, operated like a cult, exerting control over members’ finances, relationships, and lives, cutting them off from their families.
The term “7M” likely references the Seven Mountain Mandate, a religious ideology about influencing key areas of society like family, education, and entertainment. These connections between the church and the management company led to accusations of financial exploitation and manipulation. Several dancers have since left, while others remain, with their stories depicted in the Netflix docuseries “Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult”.
Shinn has denied the allegations, and while no criminal charges have been filed, lawsuits are ongoing, with claims ranging from fraud to human trafficking.
