Jean Aspen and Tom Irons are still alive as of 2024. They continue to be active in sharing their adventures and experiences, primarily through books, documentaries, and public engagements.
Jean Aspen, daughter of Arctic explorers Constance and Harmon “Bud” Helmericks, and her husband Tom Irons have spent decades living in and exploring the Alaskan wilderness. They have documented their journeys and the unique lifestyle they embraced in the remote Brooks Range through a series of books and films. Their most recent project, “ReWilding Kernwood,” details the poignant deconstruction of their wilderness home and their efforts to restore the site to its natural state.
They also continue to maintain an online presence where they update followers on their latest activities and projects.
